Minor In Possession or Consumption of Alcohol

Having my office in Manhattan, Kansas, the local business district known as "Aggieville" generates a lot of these charges.  Also KSU sporting events and the Country Music Festival, called "Country Stampede," generates hundreds of these offenses each year.  First, you must know what the law is.  The Kansas Statute can be viewed here.  Probably the penalty of most concern, is the drivers license suspension which is mandatory if you are convicted.  The license suspension applies even if you were nowhere near a vehicle.  I am sure you can imagine what happens to a young person's automobile insurance rates if they have an alcohol related suspension of driving privileges on their record.

There are several things that can be done to defend or mitigate the consequences of an MIP/MIC.
